Most people know Bali as one of the world’s greatest beach holiday destinations. This means that it’s far from being a well kept a secret. When looking for a place to stay on the island, you can find anything from budget accommodations to ultra luxurious hotels and villas.
Since we recently moved to Indonesia, we thought it would be interesting to stay at a hotel that was known for keeping with tradition, and famous for their collection of Balinese antiques.
As we exited the taxi in front of TUGU Bali we were greeted by the sound of the gong announcing our arrival, and a very smiley man, ready to show us into the hotel.
The girls ran ahead, stopping only to say hello to the fish swimming along on either side of them.Making our way to our room was like walking through an enchanted jungle. We crossed a private bridge that led us over a lotus pond, to our room, that was more like a house!Statues waited outside our door…While tons of space waited inside. For a travelling family of 4, extra space in a hotel room is always a treat! My personal favourite was the indoor/outdoor bathroom. But if you ask the rest of my family, the most luxurious part of our little piece of paradise was the private pool right outside our patio door. The kids were in heaven! After we were all settled in, and mandatory dips in the pool were out of the way, we stopped by the lobby for afternoon tea.If we hadn’t been spoiled enough already, we were told that our ‘welcome massages’ could be had at any time throughout the day.As I made my way around the grounds of the hotel, I couldn’t help but notice that the staff was all so friendly and full of smile. I guess it really is the Balinese way!We explored the grounds further to find that indeed there were Balinese antiques hidden throughout the hotel.
The girls made their way to the beach, and their biggest decision of the day became, “Where should we swim?”When deciding between the beach, pool, or your own personal pool is the toughest decision of the day; I think it’s safe to say that qualifies as a great vacation! If this was Bali welcoming us to the neighbourhood, we’re sure glad to be only an island away! Here’s hoping we’ll be back soon!
Thank you to TUGU Hotels for hosting us as guests. Also check out TUGU Lombok if you’re island hopping! All opinions are my own.
Looks blissful! We’re heading for our own bliss in the Seychelles next month! ?
