When we first arrived in Indonesia this past fall, we were going on vacation and wanted our kids to get a feel for the culture of our new host country. We took them to Bali and stayed at Tugu Bali because we heard it had such an ancient Indonesia style. From the sound of the gong as we exited the taxi, we knew had arrived in Indonesian paradise.
Last month my Mom came to Indonesia for the first time, and I wanted to share with her the same experience we enjoyed so much with our daughters. This time we ventured over to Bali’s neighbouring island of Lombok, where luckily, Tugu has another incredible hotel. Tugu Lombok also had a decor highlighting the ancient Indonesia culture, just as their Bali hotel.
The main bar on the grounds was 400 years old, and the former palace of the King of Lombok. Talk about unique!
As I was given a tour of the grounds, I couldn’t help but notice how peaceful and serene it was everywhere we went….and then I couldn’t help but wonder how my daughters were behaving, poolside with my Mom. Hopefully they were maintaing the zen feel of the property. As we walked further, I was encouraged to come back out early in the morning and walk barefoot on the grass to connect with the earth. I had official arrive in paradise.
No ask was too big during our time there. Although we were happy just relaxing by the pool or having my girls play in the sand(getting completely spoiled by the beachfront staff) there were constantly suggestions of how our stay could be more incredible: candlelit dinner on top of the spa temple, moonlight massage, bonfire on the beach, massage and candle lit dinner on a bamboo hut. The possibilities seemed endless and we were treated to a horse and carriage ride throughout the neighbouring village.
Our room was amazing, boasting an outdoor bathroom and pond with fish that kept the girls entertained better than a TV could!
We soaked it all in, enjoying the sun, pools, massive beach and impressive dining room, then we’d turn in, ending our day in our private villa with outdoor tub and private plunge pool. Then in the morning, we were treated to a breakfast fit for Queens, which we were starting to feel the part.
A girl could really get used to this…and the four of us were absolutely loving it! Many thanks to Tugu Lombok for hosting us as guests during our visit. All opinions are my own.
