What a difference six years makes.
Six years ago I was on this same beach, with my husband of one week. We lived in Canada; I was an assistant principal, him a geologist, and we were on the trip of a lifetime. One month in Indonesia. It was our honeymoon and we wanted something special. We chose Indonesia because it was so far from home, so unique, that it truly would be that once in a lifetime vacation that we were looking for. We wouldn’t be back in Indonesia, so we were going to make it special. Or so we thought….
Life changed and the path we chose was the furthest thing that I could have ever imagined six years ago on that beach in Lombok.
Not long ago I went back to that very same beach that I was sure would only be a one time visit, but this time I was a resident of Indonesia, and I wasn’t on my honeymoon. Instead it was a girl’s trip with my Mom and two daughters. During our time in Indonesia, life was very different and one of the best parts was exploring the amazing islands and beaches the country has to offer.
When my Mom came to visit us in Indonesia, it was a looooong way from Canada. We wanted to make it special, so we decided to take a ‘girl’s trip’ with my daughters. We spent a few days at Sudamala Suites & Villas Lombok and took in all that Indonesia had to offer.
Our room was just off the beach with an ocean view to die for and the pool was just on the other side, making this place an amazing sell for my kids. Beach, pool, room, repeat.A favourite of mine was the very exotic feeling of using the outdoor shower. Talk about luxury!
Our second evening we had a beach front traditional Indonesian dinner, where we watched the sun sink into the ocean while we sampled all sorts of new and exotic types of local cuisine.
Another night there was a tradition dance show that was entertaining for kids and adults alike. But best of all I got to spend some amazing quality time with my Mom and daughters set in a background of paradise. I couldn’t ask for more than that….except maybe another trip back one day! 😉
Thanks to Sudamala Lombok for hosting us as guests. All opinions are my own.
